Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Empty
PostSubject: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeSat Nov 19, 2011 1:53 pm

Like most dreary afternoons, Anne found herself perched on the edge of a large, worn couch in the library, feet tucked under her body and hidden by her uniform skirt. She was curled into the comfortable brown fabric of the couch, a book nestled in her lap, eyes quickly scanning across the page through each line of prose. Afternoons such as this never failed to please her. She would even put off homework on such rainy days to hole-up in the library and do nothing but read for a few tranquil hours. It wasn't often that she could, as Hogwarts was so busy in general. That, or her favorite couch would be taken by a group of giggling first years who had no place to go thanks to the rain. She could have always hexed them, but the rain made her lethargic and she could never find it in herself to be particularly vicious. But, thankfully, her couch was free today. And so she sat.

Her eyes nearly drooped, actually, as she furthered her way into an intriguing history of how House Elves came to be subjugated (she didn't particularly care of House Elf Rights, to be honest. If the little buggers wanted to act as servants, than so be it. She certainly wasn't going to stop them). The rain accosted a nearby window in a constant pat, pat, pat, creating a soothing rhythm. Maybe she would take a nap. Yes, that sounded delightful. But no, libraries weren't for sleeping. She had also reached the amount of books set to check out and thus needed to finish the one she was reading at the moment. Perhaps when she finished, that is, if she didn't fall asleep on her own.

Which, of course, Anne did. Her eyes finally drifted shut and the book slipped to the floor as her body stretched to get comfortable.

Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeThu Nov 24, 2011 2:51 am

If there was one thing that Dominik noticed about his stay abroad, it was that it rained an awful lot. It wasn't like it didn't rain back home, but here it was like every time he looked outside there was puddles. It left the school with a rather dreary feeling looming over it, and he couldn't seem to escape it. Most of all, he certainly couldn't go outside in the pouring rain. All of the other students in the school seemed to have the same idea, as the halls were more crowded and lively than normal. All the regular spots that he seemed to frequent when he was bored and wanted to get away from everyone were also abnormally buzzing with activity. It was a tad frustrating in all honesty.

There was one place in this whole castle that it was actually a rule that anyone who entered had to be as quiet as possible -- the library. He hoped that it would at least hold up to that reputation for him today. Once he arrived, he heard by the hushed atmosphere of the library that it wasn't letting him down in being a sanctuary that often associated with the place. Yes, there were more people packed in than on a normal day, but it was still relaxing.

Dominik wasn't really interested in checking out any new library books, though he probably should have if he had wanted to get a better grade on a few papers he had to write. Today he wasn't in the mood to be thinking of things like this though. He had brought his own book that was old and worn. It was his own book from his own little library at home. All he really wanted from the library was two things, one of which he had already found. The quiet atmosphere was one, which left a comfortable chair to make this day of reading complete.

Sadly, that was where he ran into a bit of trouble. All of his favorite comfortable chairs were already occupied by students reading, napping, gossiping, or some strange mix and match combination of the three. This was turning into a huge disappointment quickly. He was about to head out again, but the truth was that Dominik was too stubborn to just leave like this. Another scope of the area he was just in left him with one option...sharing a couch. Normally this wasn't a problem, as Dominik was actually pretty friendly and enjoyed chatting with people enough for him to snag himself a spot. It was who was currently occupying the other half that was a problem.

It was her. Their first meeting happened because of a book, so it was odd that books once again brought them together like this. She was asleep, that part was easy to tell. Dominik couldn't help but internally grin to himself (okay, maybe it was showing too) that she was actually pretty when she wasn't threatening him with idiotic rambles. There was still that sense of dread if she were to wake up and start yelling at him again though. He had come here for quiet, not yelling. Another look around told him that this was his only option if he wanted to stay here. With a little sigh, Dominik walked over to the couch. He would accept this challenge!

There was enough room to sit, and Dominik made himself comfortable. He didn't want to wake her up, so he was as careful as possible to not move way too much. Luckily for him, he was good at sneaking around and being quiet. Once it didn't look like she was moving, he changed his position so he was sitting cross-legged on the couch with his heavy book in his lap. With a glance to the blonde, he saw that she was still sleeping undisturbed for now. As long as she didn't move any more to her right, she wouldn't even know he was there. Feeling accomplished with himself, Dominik let himself rest against the armrest to relax, opening the book to the page he had marked. Maybe this wasn't so bad after all.

Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeFri Nov 25, 2011 8:50 pm

Rain always seemed to dull everything. Classes would drag and the world seemed blury through the windows. Even the students felt its affects. In sleep, Anne actually managed to look peaceful for once in her life. Her expression usually reflected some sort of negative emotion throughout the day, be it through a scowl or glare, perhaps a frown if she was feeling a bit too lazy to throw any malice into it. However, such forms of anger melted while she slept, leaving in their place a calm visage. Pleasant dreams even allowed a slight quirk of the edge of her lips. One might even designate it a smile in the right light. Her blonde lashes brushed against her cheeks, eyes fluttering through the peaceful dreams. Every so often a small sigh would escape, as well, in sync with the rise and fall of her chest. At night she never slept so peacefully. Perhaps it was the rain.

But, whether it was raining or not, Anne was a light sleeper. Even the slightest creak could have her jolting awake, especially in the middle of the night. Usually she'd perform a small muffling charm to help her pass the night restfully. Exhausted or not, it made no difference. Thunderstorms were hell for her, often keeping her up for hours on end. They noises didn't scare her (she wasn't a pansy), they just kept her from sleeping, leading to resentment.

Therefore, when Dominik sat down at the edge of the couch, causing a shift in the fabric and disturbing the peace, the blonde was dragged out of her dreaming state. She blinked blearily, too groggy to make sense from the situation at first. A rather feline-esque yawn escaped, her eyes watering slightly. Her body involuntarily stretched itself, her back cracking delightfully. Slowly bringing herself to sit up, she glanced around, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

The bottle-green irises landed on Dominik. Ah. The culprit. Despite her sleepy condition, Anne managed to fix a rather harsh glare on the boy, lips curling downward. She had been quite content napping. It was just like him to ruin such a lovely afternoon, wasn't it? She didn't deign to speak to him, letting her expression speak for her. Perhaps she could scare him off and return to her catnap.

PostSubject: Re: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeSat Nov 26, 2011 3:39 am

It took Dominik a moment to even notice that he had somehow screwed up already. It was a shame, he was so looking forward to relaxing here. After reading a few sentences, he couldn't help but feel something strange. It felt like someone was watching him. Being the rather suspicious and oftentimes paranoid person he was, he felt like this many times before. This time though it felt like the person was literally right on top of him staring. Truth was, he wasn't too far off. Quickly, Dominik looked over to the girl on the other side of the couch. His crimson eyes met her green ones for a moment and then he felt a small sense of dread. He woke her up. For a guy with so many luck charms in his pockets, one would think that things like this wouldn't happen.

Dominik sighed, rolling his eyes. "Oh, it looks like I woke sleeping beauty. But haven't I told you it was rude to stare already?" Her expression was more of a glare, but he didn't care at the moment even if his expression matched for the briefest of moments.. He shifted the way he was sitting down so he was in the same position, just to the side more. This allowed him to look at her without really being too inconvenienced. Too bad he found it rude to keep his head resting on the armrest anymore. "Look, I really wasn't trying anything funny. This was the only place to sit and you already banned the hallways for me." He was talking about their other meeting where she had clearly stated that he should do his reading elsewhere. In a library was following even her rules.

Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeSat Nov 26, 2011 4:45 pm

Of course, Dominik's words sparked an involuntary and somewhat defensive blush in the small Briton, her glare sharpening. Anne crossed her arms and pursed her lips for a moment, weighting her words before speaking (though it was usually very rare for her to do so). "I wasn't staring," she snapped. "I was glaring. Because you so rudely woke me up. It's different," she sniffed, head held high. Just when she thought she could catch up on sleep Dominik had to come about and wreck havoc, as always. Did he ever give her a moments rest? Apparently not. At least he wasn't entirely bad to look at (though such thoughts made her cheeks bloom like roses and she preferred not to go red in the face). She did, however, have the tiniest seed of hope in her chest. Sleeping Beauty. If it was a reference to something, Anne didn't understand. She never read muggle fairytales or watched their movies, through the phrase did sound familiar. But did he think she was pretty, then? Calling her such a thing. He did sound slightly sarcastic. She decided not to dwell on such thoughts for too long. It was girly and inane and very out of character.

His explanation was valid, she supposed. With a sigh she relaxed her severe expression, running a hand over her hair to smooth it. She supposed he was right. The library was brimming with students on account of the rain. His joke about hallways wasn't amusing, however, and she found herself blushing with embarrassment and a little shame from her over reaction.
"Oh, fine," she relented. "Sit here, then. But don't disturb me," her eyes narrowed threateningly, through it was mostly a bluff. As if she'd hex him, at this point. But maybe she would. He always seemed to cast some peculiar charm over her tummy and cheeks, making the former knot and the latter go red. Must be a prank, of course. He was fond of those.

PostSubject: Re: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeWed Nov 30, 2011 3:36 am

"I suppose it is a little different." he stubbornly admitted, not looking too happy that she had woken up. Really, how was he so unlucky? "Though I wasn't rude." He swore for a moment that the blonde appeared a bit distracted as if she were thinking about something, but quickly brushed it off. She was just strange, he realized this already. Or maybe it was just the fact that she had such a wide array of amusing facial expressions whenever the two encountered one another. At least she had just woken up so she was still in a sleepy state, he assumed. Dominik found himself sitting there and watching her, his eyes wandering her body for any funny business. He was naturally suspicious of people, and who could blame him for being suspicious of a girl who had threatened him upon their first meeting.

Dominik found it quite odd that she had agreed to let him sit there so easily. It wasn't like he actually wanted an argument, but he was sure it was going to be happening the moment he saw her green eyes glaring at him. As much as he found this action off from normal, he told himself it must have been because she was tired. He knew he did the oddest things when half asleep himself, so this girl would be no different. "Oh good!" He found himself snuggling his head against the arm of the couch again. It was clear he was making himself right at home and getting comfortable with this new invitation. "I wasn't planning on leaving anyways, but thank you. You can go back to sleeping now if you really want." That would be nice. Then he could just sit here and read like he wanted. "I won't try anything odd, promise." Dominik gave her a little smile and shifted his gaze back down to his book. Now where did he leave off...

PostSubject: Re: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeWed Nov 30, 2011 6:19 pm

"Yes," Anne stated flatly, "you were terribly rude. You woke me up. Thus, rude." She looked at him accusingly, though she wasn't terribly strung out over the matter. At least, not anymore. Her lethargy was taking over and she longed to curl back up and give in to the Sandman. All girlish thoughts from before were purposefully swept from her mind and she focused her decision at hand: to sleep or to read.

If she slept she would give in to her desire, though it might interrupt her nightly sleeping habits. She would be very content, though, and her eyes drooped distractingly. But what if she did something horridly embarrassing? She tended to mumble in her sleep, even toss and turn. There were too many cons to sleeping. If she read, despite being tired, not only would she gain interesting information but she'd also maintain a respectable appearance, which was terribly important to have in front of her peers (especially cute Eastern European ones with a fondness for little hats).

"It's fine," Anne told Dominik, opening her book and flipping to the page from which she had left off. Her eyebrows rose at his statement but she said nothing, returning her gaze to the tome. But she was far too distracted and ended up reading the same sentence thrice before it made any sort of sense at all.

Dominik still didn't see how he was being rude. He of all people knew when he was being rude, even if it just seemed to be a dominant part of his personality at some points. He was still aware of the difference between being rude and an accident. Accidents happened, even if he hated to admit it. He wondered if she was one of those types of people who thought that they were the only ones who had accidents in life. Perhaps he was lucky that he was looking at the book in his lap at the moment, because it made the rolling of his eyes to her statement a bit less noticeable.

"If that is what you want, go for it." The way she was looking, she would probably fall asleep without meaning to. Dominik himself wasn't really a fan of sleeping in public places due to paranoia of things that could happen to him when he slept, but he didn't think this was any justification for Anne not wanting to sleep. "I at least hope that book is interesting then to keep you awake." Though he adored books himself, the one she was reading didn't look particularly thrilling from what he was peeking at.

PostSubject: Re: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeSat Jan 07, 2012 4:54 pm

"Of course it is," Anne grumbled through gritted teeth, pausing in her scanning of the book pages to give Dominik a sharp look. "Nothing could be more interesting than this book," she sniffed haughtily, lifting her chin slightly, looking slightly petulant. She would prove to the boy that should could stay awake, even if the book was just slightly dry and seemed to drag on only a little and had such terribly small font. No, none of that mattered. She could do this.

However, as she resumed her reading, her eyes drooped periodically. She found herself rereading a sentence more than once before the information sunk in. Even her muscles seemed to droop, weighing heavily, begging her to lie down and give in. Her stubbornness prevailed and she breathed in deeply, closing her eyes for but a moment. With a determined frown, she restarted the paragraph. Nothing changed.

She didn't sound all that sure in her statement. In response, Dominik made a small noise of agreement, simply mumbling "Alright.", before going back to the own book that he had been planning on reading. She sure enjoyed ruining his reading habits, he noted. In the least, his book looked more interesting than his glace at hers. Dominik was not tired like the young lady next to him, and got lost in books rather easily. It didn't take long for him to be caught up in the text he was reading. As amusing as it was talking to Anne, he really did want to get this reading done.

It was a few minutes before Dominik shifted his attention again. He found himself looking over at Anne again, just out of curiosity to see if she really was as interested in that boring looking book as she had said. Clearly she had stopped her act, because she looked far from interested. He looked back to the pages his book was opened to. Having finished the previous chapter, a blank page and the header of a new chapter was facing him. Perfect. Now he wouldn't be missing much if he were to poke fun at her.

Dominik pretended to be looking at his book, glancing over at her and trying to sound as offhanded as possible with his statement. "Someone looks a little tired. Is that book that boring?" He couldn't help but have a silly little smile on his face as he spoke.

Anne felt her cheeks flare as she was called out on drifting off. She stiffened, mouth instantly pulling down into a scowl. She snapped the book shut, turning to face him, crossing her arms. "It's highly rude to disturb someone who's busy," she quipped, giving him a withering look. Her brain worked in overdrive, trying to find some sort of excuse to give Dominik.

"If you really must know," she began, conflicted between eye-contact or no eye-contact, "I was up late last night studying. Not that you would know anything about that." She lessened the severity of her look to let him know she was joking about (partially). Her words held no real malice (though there was barely a difference in her tone - she rarely ever joked). "At any rate, I finished my chapter. Since you so insist on speaking with me, I supposed I'll have to humor you."

PostSubject: Re: Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik]   Let Sleeping Slytherins Lie [Anne and Dominik] Icon_minitimeTue Feb 21, 2012 4:28 pm

Dominik let out a small noise of amusement. "Sorry, I know that sleeping is a very time consuming task!" That probably sounded like a bit of sarcasm there, and maybe it was intended that way. This was coming from the boy who could sleep all day if he was allowed, so there was really a bit of truth behind his statement there. Anne didn't know this little fact about him though, as Dominik certainly hoped that she didn't know his sleeping habits. At the moment he thought that she was being a bit silly with what she was saying. He hoped that she realized that in order to come to this school in the first place, he had to be somewhat intelligent. Her expression looked a bit like she was joking, but he couldn't be too sure with her. Dominik just shook his head a little.

"Oh, this is great." Dominik turned his book over on his legs so his spot where he had stopped reading was kept, but it was now clear he was no longer reading himself. "I just finished the chapter I was on. This means that we can have a long, meaningful discussion." He put somewhat forced enthusiasm behind his words and expression, just because she really didn't seem like she wished to speak with him all that much. It was a bad habit, but perhaps sometimes he got a kick out of being obnoxious.
